Professor Jerzy Stępień

Professor Jerzy Stępień – lawyer, politician, senator, retired judge of the Constitutional Court, and in the years 2006-2008 President of the Court. He chaired the Committee on Local Government and Administration of the State Senate, he was a member of the Senate Constitutional Committee and the National Assembly Constitutional Committee. In 1997-1999, he was the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration at the government of Jerzy Buzek. He is director of the Institute of Civic Space and Public Policy at the Łazarski University. He was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland, the Gold Cross of Merit, and the Gloria Artis Medal for Meritorious Justice (Bene Merentibus Justitiae) by the National Court Register.
